I washed my hair on Monday and did a braid out for a few days this week. Then I decided to turn that braid out into a protective style. I'm not really sure of what the official name for this style is, I'm just calling it an "upward french roll". I may be wearing this all winter. It's super easy to do and only takes about 2 minutes and 2 hair forks.
This is my hair right after I washed it. It's still wet and shrunken in its most natural state. I just love how my hair can shrink up to ear length (sarcasm). I can't wait until my hair is at my shoulders shrunken. I may start wearing wash and go's then. I currently use the Mane n Chic no towel, no t-shirt, no paper towel method to dry my hair. After I get out the shower I either put on a plastic cap or wrap a towel around my neck. Then I'll style it while wet.
I love wearing twist outs. I washed and rollerset my hair for a stretched twist look (see first three pictures above). I wore my hair in these twist for about two weeks before I untwisted and separated each twist only once for this desired look. I really like it.
One of my new ambitions is taking better care of my hair and retaining length. I have been natural for 4 years but this is the first time I have made a conscious effort to take better care of my hair. I have set a short term goal of getting to armpit length hair by January 2011. My ultimate goal is to be at least bra strap length by January 2012. I will be updating my blog as to what I am doing to my hair to get to this goal. I started this healthy hair journey in August 2010. I haven't straightened my hair since January 2010 so this is the most recent picture of my straightened. I won't be straightening my hair again until January 2011. But in the meantime I'll update my blog as to the styles and products that I'll be trying.
